About me

I'm Derek, a fine-art photographer drawn to quiet moments – the kind that often pass unnoticed.

My work is not staged or directed, but observed. Each image is created with patience, restraint, and respect for what is already present.

Present Moment is my ongoing practice of observation – meeting stillness as I align.

Relationship with nature

Waiting in silence. Observing without interference. Never chasing or staging.

When the moment reveals itself—a heron in perfect stillness, light dancing on water, the quiet breath of a forest—it is honored.

Nature serves as a teacher, mirror, and divine Source. It speaks in the sacred that often goes unnoticed, reminding that power lives in presence, wonder is already here, and the divine breathes through what is.

Photography

Nature has always been my first true love.

Photography became the second.

It began simply: wanting Father Sun to hold me, to learn about birds, and to connect to Pacha Mama.

But the moment I raised the camera, something deeper took hold.

Presence.

Interesting facts

I’m not just a photographer—I’m a mitochondriac, devoted to the study of quantum biology: light, cellular water & respiration, and magnetism (both visible and non-visible radiation). I’m also a student of BJJ and train with Gracie Barra in Palmetto Bay, FL.

Quantum-entangled with water and my wife, I carry that deep, unbreakable connection everywhere. (I was also a Division 1 swimmer—Go DAWGS!)

When I’m behind the lens, I get to couple with nature: observing, waiting, and honoring the same living intelligence that flows through every cell, every sunrise, every quiet moment.

Photography becomes the bridge between the quantum world I study and the vast, sacred stillness I witness.

Stillness Observed

Fine-art photography found in stillness, presence, and light

Climb up on some hill at sunrise. Everybody needs perspective once in a while, and you’ll find it there.
